GM and EVgo Reach Major Milestone with Installation of 1,000th EV Charging Station
GM and charging network provider EVgo reached a significant milestone by installing their 1,000th fast charger across the United States. This achievement marks a crucial step in GM's $35 billion commitment to electric and autonomous vehicle development through 2025.
The comprehensive investment plan includes:
- Construction of new battery manufacturing facilities
- Modernization of existing assembly plants
- Strategic partnerships with electric utility companies
- Collaboration with state and local governments
A key component of GM's charging infrastructure expansion is its partnership with EVgo and Pilot Travel Centers. Together, they plan to install 2,000 DC fast-charging stations at up to 500 Pilot and Flying J travel center locations nationwide, making long-distance EV travel more convenient and accessible.
This initiative particularly focuses on improving charging accessibility for apartment residents, addressing a significant barrier to EV adoption in urban areas. EVgo's role as one of GM's preferred charging network operators strengthens the automaker's commitment to creating a reliable and extensive charging infrastructure across America.
