Mercedes Makes Historic Le Mans Return with Iron Lynx GT3 Program
Mercedes-AMG is returning to the FIA World Endurance Championship and Le Mans 24 Hours in 2025 after a 26-year absence, partnering with Iron Lynx for a two-car LMGT3 program. The Italian team, which previously operated Lamborghini's Hypercar and LMGT3 programs, will manage the Mercedes-AMG GT3 entries.

Christoph Sagemüller, head of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport, expressed enthusiasm about returning to Le Mans, stating the partnership with Iron Lynx represents a significant milestone in their Customer Racing program.
To compete in WEC, Mercedes-AMG is currently homologating their GT3 car to meet LMGT3 requirements, including:
- Installing driveshafts with torque sensors
- Conducting wind tunnel tests
- Ensuring compliance with FIA WEC performance standards
This homologation will also enable other Mercedes-AMG customer teams to compete at Le Mans through invitations earned from various championships, including:
- ELMS LMGT3 class
- IMSA's GTD class
- GT World Challenge
Iron Lynx will begin their testing phase after receiving the cars, leading up to the FIA WEC Prologue scheduled for February 21-22 at Lusail International Circuit, preceding the Qatar 1812km season opener.
Stefan Wendl, head of Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing, acknowledged the collaborative efforts with ACO and FIA, highlighting the swift progression from initial discussions to securing the FIA WEC entry with Iron Lynx.
