The Trans Am Series is introducing a new TA Cup class for the 2025 season, featuring high-performance spec tube-frame vehicles with silhouette bodies. These cars will compete in both the Western Championship and National Championship under the Pick 6 Challenge.

The TA Cup vehicles, manufactured by Chris Evans Inc. (CEI), boast impressive specifications:

  • 600 rear-wheel horsepower
  • 2900-pound weight
  • 18-inch Pirelli P ZERO slicks
  • Previous generation NASCAR engines

Previously competing in the Western Championship's XGT class since 2023, these cars are now getting their own class due to growing participation and the need to distinguish between single-builder and production vehicles.

Aaron Coalwell, TA technical director, emphasizes that having a spec car from one supplier simplifies inspection and controls development variation common in other classes. The TA Cup will initially race alongside TA and GT classes until participation warrants a separate race group.

The cars represent a collaborative effort between industry experts:

  • Jerry Pitts
  • Jeff Jefferson
  • Aaron Coalwell
  • Chris Rohm

Chris Evans, two-time Western Championship winner and owner of CEI, highlights the cars' value proposition through simple concepts and straightforward rules. The manufacturing approach, as opposed to custom building, helps maintain lower costs.

Recent performance at Circuit of The Americas demonstrated the cars' competitiveness, with Will Rodgers securing victory in both National and Western Championship competition in the XGT class, finishing second overall. Other notable drivers included Chris Evans, John Moore, and Ken Sutherland.
