The switch enables Ocon to participate in the post-race test with Haas, his future team. Alpine acknowledged Ocon's contributions, particularly highlighting his historic first Formula 1 win for the team.

Doohan will use number 61 for the Abu Dhabi race, though he has selected number 7 for his full-time campaign in 2025. His entry brings the total number of drivers who have competed in Formula 1 this season to 24, joining Oliver Bearman, Franco Colapinto, Liam Lawson, Daniel Ricciardo, and Logan Sargeant as part-season participants.

The early driver change gives Alpine an opportunity to evaluate Doohan at a familiar circuit before the off-season begins. This move comes amid speculation about Alpine's 2025 driver lineup, with Franco Colapinto reportedly in consideration due to substantial financial backing.
