AWA has announced the retirement of their Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R chassis following its GTD class victory at the 2024 Rolex 24 At Daytona. The team will introduce a new chassis at the upcoming Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, with a second chassis planned for their Le Mans debut.

The team's strategy shift comes after securing their Le Mans entry through Orey Fidani's 2024 IMSA Bob Akin Award win. Team owner Andrew Wojteczko explained that the Daytona-winning car will be replaced by what was originally intended to be their Le Mans chassis, with a new vehicle being prepared specifically for Le Mans.

AWA's recent success follows a strategic shift in 2024, where they consolidated to a single-car operation and focused on reliability improvements. The team's engineering staff, led by Charlie Ping and Baptiste Viala, dedicated the off-season to performance optimization, which culminated in their Daytona victory with drivers Fidani, Matt Bell, Lars Kern, and Marvin Kirchhöfer.

Matt Bell, who secured the team's victory in the final hour at Daytona, praised the car's performance and the team's dedication. Fidani highlighted Chevrolet's exceptional customer support program, which helped overcome early challenges with the new car to develop it into a race-winning package.

The team will continue competing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with their new chassis while preparing for their historic Le Mans debut.
