The Big Creek Concrete Rookie 602 Crate Sportsman Division at Big Diamond Speedway has proven to be an invaluable stepping stone for young racing talent since its 2023 introduction. This innovative class helps develop aspiring drivers before they advance to higher levels of dirt Modified racing.

Race Director Kasea Bauscher created this division to allow young drivers to progress at their own pace. Unlike traditional racing formats, drivers compete against peers of similar experience levels, making the learning process more effective and safer.

Key features of the division include:

• 15-lap feature races (no heats)
• No points system
• Random starting positions
• Previous winners start at rear
• Mandatory advancement after 4 wins
• Group practice sessions

The division has already achieved notable milestones, including making history when Danica Getz became the first female Modified feature winner at Big Diamond in 2023, leading an all-female top three finish with Brittany Edgar and McKenzi Smith.

The 2025 season kicks off with these upcoming events:

• March 30: Open practice (noon-4:00 pm) - Open to all cars with roll-cages
• April 4: 53rd Season Opener/Thaw Brawl

  • USS Achey 602 Crate Sportsman ($1053 prize)
