Birmingham Airport introduces barrier-free parking system with new payment rules

Birmingham Airport is introducing a new barrier-free parking system on March 18, 2025, using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion.

Key Changes:

  • Removal of physical barriers
  • Payment required within 24 hours of exit
  • Multiple payment options available: Autopay, post-payment, or on-site machines

Premium Drop Down Pricing:

  • 0-15 minutes: £6
  • 15-20 minutes: £11
  • 20-25 minutes: £17

The initiative supports Birmingham Airport's goal to achieve Net Zero Carbon by 2033. Nikki Bains, head of Planning, Transport and Strategy, confirms that detailed information about the project and Autopay registration will be communicated to customers soon.

Important Note for Drivers: Remember to pay parking fees within 24 hours of leaving the car park, as there will no longer be physical barriers to remind you.
