Chris Madden Dominates Schaeffer Spring Nationals Opener with Flag-to-Flag Win
Chris Madden dominated the Schaeffer's Oil Spring Nationals Series opener at Swainsboro Raceway, claiming the $7,553 prize with a commanding flag-to-flag victory in the 40-lap main event. Driving the Team 22 Inc. Longhorn Chassis, Madden expertly managed lapped traffic to secure his sixth career Spring Nationals win.
Wil Herrington charged from eighth to finish second, 1.786 seconds behind Madden. Trey Mills completed the podium after a last-lap pass on Ethan Dotson, who finished fourth. Dalton Cook rounded out the top five after starting eleventh.
Polesitter Drake Troutman, who set a new track record in qualifying with a 14.216-second lap, finished sixth after sustaining left front damage from contact with an infield tractor tire.
"We tried not to mess up there and get through lapped traffic the best we could," said Madden in Victory Lane. "When the bottom got slick, I knew I'd need to move up top at some point."
The event drew 30 competitors from ten states. Only one caution occurred when contact sent Garrett Smith spinning on lap 23, collecting multiple cars including Tanner English.
