Jones, a Purdue University honors graduate, brings extensive credentials to the role, including a White House-sponsored Smithsonian National Design Award, 43 patents, and over 1,000 international product design awards. He succeeds Rob Dyson, who served as chairman for four years and led the Museum's "The Stories Behind the Spectacle Capital Campaign."
His connection to Indianapolis Motor Speedway spans more than four decades, beginning with childhood memories of attending qualifications and races with his father. Born in Covington, Indiana, Jones has witnessed the evolution of both the track and race cars since the 1960s.
A passionate vintage Indy car enthusiast, Jones has restored 11 Indy cars and actively races them. His racing career began at age 10 with go-karts, earning his professional racing license at 15. He has since won multiple championships across various racing series.
Jones has served on the IMS Museum board since 2019 and expressed gratitude for Dyson's leadership, stating, "His focus and action mindset have built a solid foundation that will benefit the Museum for years to come."
