Cody Overton Returns for Second Season on World of Outlaws Late Model Tour
Cody Overton has confirmed his return to the World of Outlaws Late Model Series for the 2025 season, marking his sophomore year with Tri Star Promotions. The Evans, GA native will sport a new number 2 on his car, moving away from his traditional number 97.

The number change represents a strategic move to establish Tri Star Promotions' unique identity, with team owner Dave Steine's input on the decision. "I always liked that number and felt like Dave didn't get much fame for being the owner," Overton explained.
In his rookie season, Overton achieved notable results:
- 13th place finish in overall points
- Third place in MD3 rookie standings
- Eight top-10 finishes
- Career-best sixth place at Maquoketa Speedway
- Led 16 laps throughout the season
Steine hired Overton in late 2023 following Ryan Gustin's departure. Despite limited Super Late Model experience, Overton showed consistent improvement throughout his rookie year, particularly at Volusia Speedway Park where he advanced from 23rd to 11th place between Sunshine Nationals and DIRTcar Nationals.
The 2025 World of Outlaws Late Models season will commence at Volusia Speedway Park during DIRTcar Sunshine Nationals (January 23-25), kicking off a 57-race schedule. Overton and Tri Star Promotions will continue their pursuit of their first World of Outlaws victory together.
