The Thomson, GA driver achieved his first-career podium finish on Friday night, followed by an 11th-place finish on Saturday, putting him four points ahead of reigning champion Brandon Sheppard and rookie Ethan Dotson.
In Friday's challenging 35-lap race, Overton showcased veteran-like performance by advancing from 23rd to third place amid difficult track conditions. While Saturday saw him qualify second and win his Heat Race, he ultimately finished 11th in the Feature due to car setup adjustments that didn't play out as expected.
Entering 2025, Overton is better positioned for success compared to his rookie season. He now has experience at 24 of the 32 tracks on this year's schedule, compared to learning most tracks from scratch last year. His 2024 season included eight top 10s and a third-place finish in the MD3 Rookie of the Year standings.
With increased confidence and track experience, Overton aims to secure his first World of Outlaws race win in 2025. The season continues at Volusia Speedway Park for the Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals, February 13-15.
