EVgo Partners with GM to Triple Fast Charging Network Across United States
EVgo and General Motors (GM) are joining forces to triple the size of EVgo's fast charging network across the United States, making electric vehicle (EV) charging more accessible than ever before.
This expansion comes at a crucial time as GM plans to launch at least 20 new EV models by 2023. The partnership aims to support both current EV owners and future adopters, particularly those without access to home charging solutions.
Currently, 115 million Americans live within a 15-minute drive of an EVgo charger. The expanded network will significantly increase this coverage, adding stations in:
- Existing markets with high demand
- New markets across the country
- High-traffic locations like grocery stores and retail outlets
- Entertainment centers
- Apartment buildings
- City centers and parks

The partnership addresses several key market needs:
- Supporting apartment dwellers without home charging access
- Enabling rideshare drivers to charge quickly between rides
- Accommodating delivery service providers
- Meeting increased demand from new EV models across all GM brands
Both companies share strong environmental commitments:
- GM aims for an all-electric, zero-emissions future
- All GM U.S. plants will run on renewable energy by 2030
- GM global plants will use 100% renewable energy by 2040
- EVgo already powers its charging network with 100% renewable energy
This expansion will build upon EVgo's existing network, which serves 200,000 customers, preparing for the millions of new EV drivers expected in the coming years. The initiative represents a significant step toward making electric vehicle adoption more practical and accessible for all Americans.
