EVgo Partners with Local Artists to Transform Oakland Fast-Charging Station
EVgo has partnered with local artists to transform their fast charging station at Oakland's Lafayette Square Park into a vibrant community art installation. Located in the heart of Old Oakland, the station combines practical EV charging with artistic expression that reflects the neighborhood's character.
Through collaboration with the Old Oakland Neighbors Association, EVgo commissioned Dragon School, a local non-profit organization, to decorate the charging equipment. Dragon School empowers youth and community members to develop ownership of their neighborhood through artistic projects.
The station features four 50kW fast chargers – named Lupe, Iggy, Pismo, and Orly – each showcasing unique abstract designs in vibrant colors. These artistic additions not only enhance the park's aesthetics but also make the charging experience more engaging for visitors.
