The multi-year agreement covers the period until GM completes development of its own power unit, expected by the end of the decade. The deal is contingent on Andretti Formula Racing LLC receiving official FIA approval for their 2026 F1 Championship entry.
Key details of the agreement:
- Ferrari will supply both power units and gearboxes
- GM is preparing to join F1 as the 11th team in 2026
- The team will operate under the Cadillac brand
- Graeme Lowdon has been appointed as team principal
Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur emphasized the significance of another American team joining F1, particularly given the sport's growing U.S. popularity. The partnership allows Ferrari to maintain two customer teams, benefiting their technical development program.
GM is currently constructing a power unit facility in Charlotte, North Carolina, with plans to have their own engine ready by 2028-2029. This Ferrari partnership ensures the team can compete effectively while developing their in-house capabilities.
"Choosing the right power unit partner is crucial, and we trust in Ferrari's passion, excellence and the exceptional capabilities of their people," stated Lowdon, highlighting the strategic importance of this collaboration between two automotive legends.
