Formula E's Pit Boost Feature to Make Historic Debut in Jeddah E-Prix
Formula E introduces Pit Boost at the upcoming Jeddah E-Prix doubleheader, marking a significant advancement in electric motorsport technology.

The mandatory Pit Boost feature provides cars with an additional 10 percent (3.885kWh) energy through a 30-second, 600kW ultra-fast charge. Teams can only pit one car at a time, with a maximum of two crew members working on the vehicle.
Failure to use Pit Boost results in race disqualification. The feature will be implemented in one race at each doubleheader event this season, including:
- Jeddah
- Monaco
- Tokyo
- Shanghai
- Berlin
- London
This innovation complements the existing Attack Mode strategy, which enables four-wheel-drive and increases power from 300kW to 350kW for eight minutes during races.
Alberto Longo, Formula E co-founder and chief championship officer, emphasizes that Pit Boost represents one of motorsport's most ambitious technological advances, promising enhanced strategy options and excitement for spectators.
The technology's implementation follows extensive testing by Formula E and the FIA, with potential benefits extending beyond racing to improve charging capabilities in consumer electric vehicles. Marek Nawarecki, FIA's senior circuit sport director, confirms that this feature aligns with their commitment to developing advanced race-to-road technologies.
