Patrick Dempsey's motorsports comeback will be featured in a new FOX Sports Films documentary airing Sunday, March 16 at 7:00pm ET on FOX Sports 1, following the NASCAR Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The one-hour special "Destined to Drive: Patrick Dempsey's Return to Racing" follows the actor's journey back to professional racing after a 10-year hiatus. The documentary offers exclusive behind-the-scenes access to Dempsey's preparation and competition in the Porsche Endurance Challenge.

Featured interviews include NASCAR champion Kevin Harvick, Porsche factory driver Patrick Long (Dempsey's teammate), and motorsports champion Tanner Foust. Long even came out of retirement specifically to coach and race alongside Dempsey.

"I am so thankful for this opportunity – not just to be back behind the wheel, but to do it with the right team and my friend, Patrick Long, as my co-driver," Dempsey stated.

Bobby Akin, whose Mechanical Rabbit Productions created the documentary, followed Dempsey throughout the 2024 Porsche Endurance Challenge. Akin noted that the film explores more than just racing, delving into themes of friendship, aging, and balancing professional commitments. The documentary captures Dempsey's journey of managing his acting career, charitable foundation, and family life while pursuing his racing passion.

"Going in, I don't think anyone knew how it would play out, but it was one heck of a ride," Akin concluded.
