Justin Haers secured a strong second-place finish in the opening 30-lap Super DIRTcar Series Modifieds event at the 2025 DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park. The veteran driver demonstrated impressive skill throughout the marathon race, engaging in multiple position battles on the challenging track surface.

Haers, a two-time winner at Volusia, noted that his car showed varying performance throughout the race. "At times tonight I think we were the best car on the track, and at other times we were probably the third best," he reflected. Late-race steering issues and restart positioning played crucial roles in the final outcome.

Jimmy Phelps finished fourth, noting the track conditions changed significantly between the heat races and the feature. "The track tightened up in the feature," Phelps explained, citing the initial draw as a limiting factor in a race where passing proved challenging.

Billy Pauch Jr., who had secured both fast time and a heat win, rounded out the top five. Despite not converting his early success into a victory, Pauch remained positive about his performance, stating, "We had speed, and this is the best I've run here," though acknowledging he lost ground to competitors Sheppard, Yankowski, and Haers during restarts.

This opening night of Modified competition at Volusia set the stage for what promises to be an exciting 2025 season, with multiple drivers showing competitive potential right from the start.
