Hall of Fame Welcomes Six Racing Legends to NYSSCA's 2024 Class

NYSSCA announced six new inductees for their 2024 Hall of Fame class, to be honored on May 4 at the Fonda Speedway Hall of Fame & Museum. The inductees include accomplished drivers Billy Decker, Steve Paine, and Jim "Rocky" Rothwell, along with racing veterans Jay Castimore, Margaret and Brian Bedell.

Billy Decker has amassed 312 feature wins (279 Big Block, 33 Small Block) across his career, including 17 track championships and three Mr. DIRT Series titles. His notable achievements include four Super DIRT Week victories and multiple 200-lap event wins at prestigious tracks.

Steve Paine's impressive career spans over 40 years, with 335 victories at 26 different tracks and 32 Track Championships. He dominated at Canandaigua Speedway with 11 Modified Track Championships and found success in Canada with multiple championships at Autodrome Granby and Drummond.

Jim "Rocky" Rothwell's 46-year racing career began in 1979 in Late Models, progressing through 320-Modifieds and Open Sportsman divisions. He secured numerous championships and victories across multiple tracks, including nine wins in the Open Sportsman division at Fonda Speedway.

Jay Castimore transitioned from tire specialist to race director and team manager, working with racing legends like Brett Hearn and Stewart Friesen. His career highlights include over 800 victories with various teams and serving as Race Director at both Fonda Speedway and Orange County Fair Speedway.

Margaret Ann Bedell's 67-year involvement in racing includes roles as fan club president, race scorer, and writer for various racing publications. She served over 40 years with NYSSCA and sponsored their Hall of Fame through Boomers Performance for three decades.

Brian Bedell's 59-year dedication to Lebanon Valley Speedway includes maintaining detailed racing statistics and serving in various NYSSCA leadership roles. His extensive knowledge and accurate record-keeping have made him an invaluable resource in the racing community.
