IMSA GTP-Spec Aston Martin Valkyrie Could Get Unmuffled V12 Treatment
The Aston Martin Valkyrie GTP race car might soon become significantly louder, following discussions between IMSA officials and The Heart of Racing team during November's Daytona International Speedway test.
Team principal Ian James met with IMSA officials who suggested removing the mandatory European-spec mufflers from the V12-powered Hypercar for its 2025 campaign. This modification would allow the Cosworth-built V12 engine to produce its full, unrestricted sound when it debuts at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.

Recent testing sessions at Sebring suggest the team is exploring this change. While James didn't explicitly confirm the removal of mufflers for their GTP configuration, he hinted at positive news for fans, stating, "I think our fans will be pleased."
The potential modification would need to go through IMSA's formal technical regulations approval process before implementation.
