Harmon's journey to victory included strategic participation in three Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup rounds in 2024, gaining valuable experience with the MX-5 Cup race car. This preparation proved crucial for his second attempt at the Shootout.

Starting his racing career relatively late, Harmon began karting at age 14 in 2020. Within just two years of competitive karting in Florida and national events, he transitioned to race cars through the Lucas Oil Racing School.

Key milestones in Harmon's racing career include:

  • Strong performances in Florida state karting competitions
  • Participation in national karting events
  • Competing in Spec Miata with BSI in 2023
  • Racing in Spec MX-5 with Greenwood Motorsports in 2024
  • Achieving a second-place finish at the 2024 SCCA National Championship Runoffs

His 2024 MX-5 Cup performances were particularly impressive, securing a fourth-place finish and a ninth place during the final round at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

The scholarship win marks Harmon's first opportunity to compete in a full racing season. With support from Street Side Classics and his father's dedication, he's now poised to pursue his dream of becoming a professional sports car racer, starting with the upcoming season at Daytona International Speedway.

"After the Shootout, my dad and I were just super happy," reflects Harmon. "It meant everything that the last three years has been about trying to win it." The victory represents not just a personal achievement but a significant step forward in his racing career.
