Jacob Denney Sets Pace in USAC Turkey Night GP Practice
Jacob Denney topped Friday night's USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship practice sessions at Ventura Raceway, California, setting the fastest lap of 12.016 seconds on the 1/5-mile dirt oval.

The practice preceded Saturday's 83rd Turkey Night Grand Prix, which offers a $15,000 winner's purse. Among the 50 participating cars, 2023 Don Basile Rookie Corey Day claimed second with 12.039s, while USAC National Midget points leader Daison Pursley secured third at 12.118s. Championship contender Cannon McIntosh placed fourth (12.190s), and Buddy Kofoid completed the top five (12.355s).
Notable participants included four-time Turkey Night victor Kyle Larson (ninth), Logan Seavey (11th), and Tanner Thorson (23rd). Two NASCAR stars made their Ventura debuts, with Cup Series champion Kyle Busch placing 31st and Xfinity champion Ty Gibbs finishing 32nd in practice.
The session saw two similar incidents, with Tyler Edwards and Dalten Gabbard both flipping in turn three after hitting the cushion. Both drivers emerged unharmed.
Saturday's main event begins at 3:00 PM local time, featuring both the USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship and Ultimate Sprint Car Series, with live streaming available on FloRacing.
