As Jaguar unveils its bold reinvention, the Formula E team stands ready to play a crucial role in the brand's electric future. The recent debut of the Type 00 concept car marks a dramatic shift in Jaguar's identity, though the racing team maintains its familiar appearance in Formula E.

James Barclay, Jaguar TCS Racing team principal, emphasizes the team's pride in participating in this historic transformation. The racing division has already adopted Jaguar's new device mark, receiving positive feedback on their updated livery.

The Formula E program serves a dual purpose: developing technology for future Jaguar electric vehicles while maintaining the brand's racing heritage. This racing DNA remains central to Jaguar's identity as it transitions to an all-electric future.

The transformation extends beyond Formula E, with JLR (formerly Jaguar Land Rover) announcing plans for Defender to compete in the 2026 Dakar Rally. This marks the first official works team entry for the brand in the prestigious off-road event.

Barclay, who also serves as managing director for JLR Motorsport, will oversee both the Formula E and Dakar Rally programs. While Formula E represents Jaguar's electric racing pinnacle, the Dakar project will partner with an experienced rally raid specialist, to be announced in January 2026.

The dual motorsport approach underscores Jaguar's commitment to both electric innovation and off-road capability, as the brand enters its most significant transformation in its 89-year history.
