The race marks NASCAR's return to Rockingham Speedway, where Kahne won his last race during the track's most recent NASCAR event in 2012. Teams will participate in an organization test at the track on January 28, ahead of the April doubleheader weekend.
Kahne, who stepped away from NASCAR in 2018 due to health issues, brings an impressive record of eight Xfinity Series wins in 215 starts. His career includes 31 victories across all three national series, with notable wins in the Coca-Cola 600 and Brickyard 400. In 2023, he was named one of NASCAR's 75 Greatest Drivers.
Richard Childress, RCR's chairman and CEO, expressed confidence in Kahne's ability to contend for victory, while Rick Hendrick praised the partnership between HendrickCars.com and RCR for this special event.
The race will be Rockingham Speedway's first NASCAR national series event since 2013, making it a significant moment for both Kahne and the sport.
