Last-to-Victory: Evans Storms Through Field in Epic Sao Paulo E-Prix
Mitch Evans executed a remarkable drive from last place to secure victory in the season-opening Sao Paulo E-Prix, claiming his 13th career Formula E win and matching the all-time record held by Sebastien Buemi and Lucas di Grassi.

Starting 22nd due to qualifying technical issues, Evans masterfully navigated through the field in a chaotic race featuring two red flags and a safety car period. The race extended from its planned 31 laps to 35, with Evans successfully defending against TAG Heuer Porsche's Antonio Felix da Costa and NEOM McLaren rookie Taylor Barnard in the closing stages.
The race's pivotal moment came when both Jaguar drivers strategically delayed their final Attack Mode usage. Evans and teammate Nick Cassidy moved into first and second positions by lap 29, though Cassidy's race would later end following contact with other drivers.
A significant incident occurred when Pascal Wehrlein's car overturned after contact, leading to a lengthy red flag period. Upon restart, Evans maintained his lead despite pressure from da Costa and energy-advantaged McLaren drivers Barnard and Sam Bird.
The final order saw Evans winning ahead of da Costa and Barnard, with Bird finishing fourth and Edoardo Mortara completing the top five. Notable retirements included Jake Dennis, Pascal Wehrlein, and Robin Frijns, who couldn't start due to brake system failure.
This victory marks a redemption for Evans, who lost the previous season's Sao Paulo E-Prix on the final lap, and sets a strong tone for Jaguar's championship campaign.
