Marine Veteran Powers New Mission: From Military Operations to EV Charging Network
Alexies Fernandez, a Marine Corps veteran with eight years of service, now serves as an NOC Technician at EVgo, managing their fleet of electric vehicle chargers. His military experience in providing power to critical field operations perfectly aligned with his current role in sustainable transportation.
During his service as a Sergeant, Alexies was stationed at Camp Pendleton, Marine Corps Base Hawaii Kaneohe Bay, and South Korea. He deployed to Kuwait and Iraq as part of Operation Inherent Resolve, where he was responsible for powering essential operations including communications, security, and headquarters facilities.
As EVgo's NOC Technician, Alexies maintains and troubleshoots the company's charging network, working directly with manufacturers to ensure optimal performance. His military background instilled the discipline and leadership skills crucial for his current role.
"I enjoy the camaraderie we have as a team," Alexies says about working at EVgo. "I also enjoy having a purpose – assisting EV drivers on their daily commutes and providing cleaner air for our world."
The transition from military to civilian life led Alexies to EVgo through a Veteran's Job Fair, where his technical expertise and mission-focused mindset made him an ideal candidate. His story exemplifies how military veterans can successfully transfer their skills to careers in sustainable technology.
Alexies continues to apply the professionalism and focus learned in the Marines to serve EVgo's customers, maintaining the critical infrastructure needed for the growing electric vehicle community.
