Mat Williamson made his debut at the prestigious Chili Bowl Nationals following his second Super DIRTcar Series championship win. The St. Catharines, ON driver described his first Tulsa experience as "amazing," comparing it to Super Dirt Week.

During his preliminary night, Williamson flipped his No. 71P Keith Kunz Motorsports Midget after contact with Buddy Kofoid. Rather than discourage him, the incident helped calm his nerves. After finishing fifth in his qualifier, he narrowly missed the Feature transfer in his B-Main when his Midget wheelied in the final corner. His Chili Bowl journey ended with an 11th-place finish in Saturday's E-Main.

Despite limited experience, Williamson was satisfied with his performance, finishing in the top 100 out of nearly 400 competitors. "I was pretty happy with our results... there's a lot of cars with far more experience," he noted.

Now, Williamson shifts focus to the Super DIRTcar Series and Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park, February 12-15. He aims to make history as the first driver to win three consecutive Big Gator titles since the trophy's introduction in 2012. His impressive Volusia record includes six victories since 2020, with three wins in the last five Features.

Williamson credits his success to his team's ability to adapt to track conditions. "Any time you give us a couple days to figure out the racetrack, I feel like we thrive," he said. While acknowledging strong competition ahead, including Matt Sheppard, Williamson remains confident, stating, "I don't think it's going to be as tough as going to the Chili Bowl, never racing in a Midget before."
