BMW's next-generation M5 has been spotted testing, featuring significant design updates despite the current model's recent launch. This early prototype reveals changes expected for the 2027 model year.

The most notable changes appear in the front end, which adopts styling elements from the Neue Klasse Concept. The new design incorporates thin, wide kidney grilles integrated seamlessly with the headlights, creating a more streamlined appearance than the current model.

The side profile remains largely unchanged, while the rear may receive updated LED tail light patterns. These design updates are expected to extend to the standard 5 Series and i5 models as well.

Mechanically, the M5 is likely to retain its hybrid 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 powertrain. The current output of 727hp and 1,000Nm of torque could see a modest increase to around 750hp, following BMW's typical pattern of power upgrades for facelifted models.

The refreshed M5 is expected to debut around 2027, considering the current model has only recently gone on sale in markets like the UK.
