
New Volvo ES90: 435-mile Range Electric Hybrid Between Saloon and SUV Revealed
The Volvo ES90 combines elements of a saloon, SUV, and hatchback in a unique electric vehicle offering up to 435 miles of range. Set to compete with the BMW i5 and Mercedes EQE, this premium electric car is expected to start around £70,000 when sales begin later this year.

Featuring Volvo's "machined from solid" design philosophy, the ES90 sports distinctive LED headlights similar to the EX90 SUV, with a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor for enhanced safety features. The elevated stance and coupe-like roofline create a distinctive silhouette that sets it apart from traditional saloons.

The interior showcases a minimalist design centered around a 14.5-inch portrait touchscreen. Premium eco-friendly materials, including fabrics made from recycled plastic bottles, adorn the cabin. The cockpit wraps around occupants, offering both light and dark color themes.

Three powertrain options are available:
- Twin Motor: Standard AWD with 106kWh battery, 435-mile range
- Twin Motor Performance: 680hp, 0-60mph in 4.0 seconds, 435-mile range
- Single Motor: 333hp RWD with 92kWh battery, 404-mile range
Orders open in March 2025, with UK deliveries starting in early 2026. The ES90's range capabilities surpass key competitors, with the Twin Motor variants offering 60 miles more range than the BMW i5.
