The team has made significant changes to improve performance, including:

  • Switching from floor-based downforce to traditional aero package at Imola
  • Introducing a new hydraulic gear shift activator
  • Implementing a comprehensive suspension update for both front and rear

Technical Director Olivier Jansonnie explains that the new suspension update, their latest Evo "Joker," aims to stabilize the platform and optimize aerodynamic efficiency. While the benefits won't be immediately apparent at the flat Qatar circuit, the team expects significant improvements at challenging tracks like Imola and COTA.

Testing has been strategic, with Peugeot utilizing their allocated eight 24-hour testing days efficiently. The team completed initial Le Mans validation in December to focus on performance development at specific WEC tracks during the season.

Despite recent leadership changes at Stellantis and Peugeot, the program maintains full corporate support. Following the promising third-place finish in Bahrain at the end of 2024, the team faces mounting pressure to deliver results in what promises to be a crucial season for the 9X8 program.

The suspension update represents Peugeot's latest effort to close the gap to competitors, though the exact number of Jokers used remains undisclosed. The team continues to refine the car's setup options and system operations, making it notably different from the previous year's configuration.
