Porsche 963 Brings Updated Suspension Package for 2025 GTP Title Defense
Porsche Penske Motorsport enters the new GTP season defending its title, bringing significant updates to its successful 963 race car. The team's preparation includes a refined driver lineup and a second evolution "Joker" update focusing on suspension improvements.

The latest suspension update aims to increase the car's operating window rather than completely redesign its architecture. Jonathan Diuguid, Porsche Penske Motorsport managing director, explains that this enhancement should help the team overcome previous struggles at certain circuits and race phases.
Key improvements include:
- Enhanced mechanical grip in low-speed corners
- Better balance between high-speed and slow-speed performance
- Improved performance on both bumpy and smooth circuits
- Wider operating range for soft compound tires
While the aerodynamic performance remains largely unchanged, these mechanical updates target consistent performance across varying track conditions and temperatures, particularly crucial for 24-hour races.
The GTP class is seeing increased competition in development, with Cadillac also implementing electronic updates to their V-Series.R for the 2025 season. Although Acura hasn't yet introduced major changes to their ARX-06, the steady evolution of these race cars demonstrates the competitive nature of the championship.
These updates will be put to the test during the upcoming Roar Before the 24 at Daytona, where both factory and customer teams, including JDC-Miller and Proton Competition, will implement the new suspension package.
