Oliver Rowland capitalized on safety car interventions to secure victory in the Mexico City E-Prix, acknowledging their crucial role in his success.

Starting fourth after the first safety car restart, Rowland utilized Attack Mode to overtake Jake Dennis, Pascal Wehrlein, and Antonio Felix da Costa in a single lap before a second safety car period. The timing proved pivotal for managing his energy consumption, which had been a concern earlier in the race.

"In the beginning, we were trying to save energy and stay calm," Rowland explained. "While there was luck with the safety car, I also lost nearly six minutes of Attack Mode. Without that safety car, winning would have been difficult as I was struggling with efficiency after 10 laps."

The Nissan driver believes he could have caught the leading trio naturally, as he was only two seconds behind Dennis before the first safety car. However, maintaining the lead after overtaking would have been challenging due to energy constraints.

"I would have gotten back to them, but passing and maintaining the lead would have consumed too much energy," Rowland admitted. "When I activated Attack Mode, I noticed significant gains on Jake. My original strategy was likely to reach them and secure a podium. When the opportunity arose, I went full attack since energy management became less critical after the safety car."
