Tesla Recalls All 46,000 Cybertrucks Due to Flying Body Panel Risk
Tesla has recalled all 46,000 Cybertrucks due to a potentially dangerous defect where body panels could detach while driving. The recall affects vehicles sold in the first 15 months of production.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) identified that the cant rail - a stainless-steel exterior trim panel running parallel to the windscreen - can delaminate and detach from the vehicle while in motion. The issue stems from failing adhesive used to secure the panel.

Multiple incidents have been reported, with videos showing the panels peeling off during normal driving conditions. YouTuber Whistlin' Diesel demonstrated how the panel could be removed by hand with minimal force after prying up one corner.

This follows a previous recall addressing issues with the accelerator pedal, which was resolved by adding a rivet to secure the pedal cover.
Tesla is addressing the current issue by:
- Replacing affected cant rail assemblies with improved versions
- Providing free repairs at Tesla service centers
- Estimating a one-hour repair time
- Allowing continued vehicle use while awaiting repairs, with caution
Owners should monitor their vehicles for any signs of loose panels and schedule service center appointments for the free repair.
