The vehicle, driven by a permanent UK resident, was seized under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act due to three main violations:
- Overseas registration and insurance (prohibited for UK residents)
- Lack of UK road legal certification
- Missing certificate of conformity for safety, emissions, size, and mass standards

Greater Manchester Police expressed concerns about the vehicle's safety, particularly regarding potential collisions with pedestrians or other vehicles. The owner faces significant challenges in reclaiming the vehicle, as they must prove both ownership and correct insurance—requirements that are difficult to meet given the vehicle's non-compliant status.

While attempts are being made to make the Cybertruck UK-road legal, such as YouTuber Yiannimize's modifications including:
- Adding orange indicators
- Removing US-required orange side markers
- Installing rubber strips to cover sharp edges
However, significant challenges remain, particularly concerning pedestrian safety due to the vehicle's hardened stainless steel bodywork and rigid front-end design. Until these issues are resolved, the Cybertruck remains non-compliant for UK roads, and potential owners should consider alternative electric vehicles.
