Wayne Johnson Makes World of Outlaws Return as ASCS Award-Winning Crew Chief
Wayne Johnson, a former World of Outlaws Sprint Car driver, is transitioning to a crew chief role with TwoC Racing for the 2025 season. After an injury ended his driving career early last year, Johnson successfully led TwoC Racing's ASCS National Tour campaign, earning the Lee Maier Crew Chief of the Year award.

The team is upgrading from 360 engines to 410s and has hired Cole Macedo as their driver for a full-time World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series run. Johnson and Macedo previously demonstrated strong chemistry at Knoxville Raceway, where Macedo advanced from 16th to 5th place.
Johnson, who won the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year award in 2020 as a driver, now aims to guide Macedo to the same achievement from the crew chief position. The team's crew includes Johnson's nephew Bud as car chief and Casey Walters as tire specialist.
Their 2024 performance with the ASCS National Tour showed promise, securing four victories - one with Seth Bergman and three with Hank Davis. Johnson's transition from driver to crew chief has been successful, as evidenced by the team's continuous improvement throughout the season.
The TwoC Racing team will begin their 2025 World of Outlaws campaign at Volusia Speedway Park's Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals on February 5-8, marking Johnson's return to the premier sprint car racing series in a new role.
