Ethan Dotson kicked off his rookie World of Outlaws Late Models season with impressive fourth and 12th-place finishes at Volusia Speedway Park's DIRTcar Sunshine Nationals, tying for second in the standings.

Since joining ASD Motorsports last May, Dotson has found immediate comfort with the team. He demonstrated his potential at the Wild West Shootout in Vado Speedway Park, securing two top-five and four top-ten finishes, despite Bobby Pierce's dominance in the event.

The momentum continued with a season-best second-place finish at Needmore Speedway's Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series event. Dotson's familiarity with Volusia Speedway Park, where he previously won the 2022 Reutimann Memorial and claimed three consecutive Feature wins during DIRTcar Nationals, gives him a competitive edge.

"It's one of the few Late Model places I have a lot of laps at," Dotson explains. "I think that probably helps more than anything. A lot of places we go to, I've only raced at once or not at all."

His recent Sunshine Nationals performance shows significant improvement from last year's DIRTcar Nationals, where he managed a sixth-place finish. Dotson acknowledges that minor adjustments could lead to his first World of Outlaws victory.

"Just a couple little things, I mean, our car was pretty good," Dotson said. "I've just got to be a little bit better later in the night. Whenever the track changes, it's just got to be a little bit better. But I think we've got some ideas, and hopefully they'll work."

The World of Outlaws Late Models season continues at Volusia Speedway Park during the final three nights of Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals (Feb. 13-15).
