The 2023 IMSA TCR champion will compete at Long Beach, Laguna Seca, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Road America, and Virginia International Raceway. The Corvette features innovative hand-control and electronic-braking technology developed by Bosch, similar to what Wickens used in his championship-winning Hyundai Elantra N TCR.
Following his 2018 IndyCar crash at Pocono Raceway that left him partially paralyzed, Wickens has demonstrated remarkable resilience. He's progressed from TCR competition, where he secured multiple wins and a championship, to this new challenge in GTD class racing.
DXDT Racing, owned by David Askew and led by Bryan Sellers, will integrate Bosch's specialized hand-control system into the Corvette. The system can be switched between traditional pedal controls for co-drivers and hand controls for Wickens.
The program represents a collaborative effort between DXDT Racing, General Motors, Bosch, and Pratt Miller Motorsports. GM's director of motorsports competition programs, Mark Stielow, emphasized the initiative's importance in making racing more inclusive for all competitors.
This partial schedule serves as Wickens' entry point into WeatherTech Championship racing, with hopes to expand to a full-time program in 2026 and beyond. His co-driver for the 2025 season will be announced later.
