Robert Wickens Set for IMSA WeatherTech Championship GTD Debut in Corvette GT3.R
Robert Wickens is set to join the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in the Grand Touring Daytona (GTD) category, partnering with DXDT Racing to drive the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R.

The move became possible thanks to Bosch's innovative brake-by-wire system, initially developed for BHA's Hyundai Elantra in the Michelin Pilot Challenge. This technological breakthrough has opened new opportunities for Wickens, who won the 2023 IMPC TCR championship with Harry Gottsacker.
The implementation process for the Z06 GT3.R is currently underway, with Bosch and Pratt Miller collaborating on the custom controls. The timeline includes simulator testing in the coming weeks, followed by straightline testing near Daytona in January, and performance testing in late February to March.
Wickens will compete in the sprint rounds of the WeatherTech Championship, with his debut scheduled for Long Beach - a track he knows from his IndyCar days. The transition to a rear-wheel-drive race car may better suit his driving style, particularly regarding throttle application through the hand controls.
While his future participation in the IMPC TCR class with BHA remains uncertain, Wickens acknowledges their crucial role in his return to racing. He plans to attend the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway to learn about his new team, the Corvette Z06 GT3.R, and the series dynamics before his racing debut.
The car will feature a special homologation to accommodate the control system, marking a significant milestone in adaptive racing technology and Wickens' remarkable journey back to high-level competition.
