Alex Yankowski made history at the Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals by becoming the first Pennsylvania driver to win the prestigious "Big Gator" trophy. At just 20 years old, this achievement adds to his growing list of accomplishments in Big Block Modified racing.

Yankowski's championship run included:

  • 1 race win
  • 3 top-five finishes
  • 4 top-ten finishes
  • A dramatic three-point victory over Mat Williamson

This success marks a significant improvement from his 2024 DIRTcar Nationals debut, where he struggled to crack the top 10. Yankowski credits his team's preparation, particularly the work of Jeff Murray and Fred Loney in the engine shop, for this year's success.

The championship came down to the wire in the 50-lap Feature finale. Entering with a narrow point lead over Peter Britten and Mat Williamson, Yankowski's eighth-place finish was just enough to secure the title by three points over Williamson.

This victory adds to Yankowski's impressive resume, which includes:

  • Youngest Super DIRTcar Series winner (age 17, World of Outlaws World Finals 2021)
  • Second SummerFAST champion in event history
  • First Pennsylvania driver to win the DIRTcar Nationals Big Gator

Yankowski represents a new generation of talent in dirt track racing, bridging the gap between veterans like Stewart Friesen and Matt Sheppard and upcoming young drivers in the sport.

The Super DIRTcar Series continues with its 2025 championship season opener at New Egypt Speedway's Power in the Pines event on March 29.
