Abel recently showcased his talent during a test with Chip Ganassi Racing at Texas Motor Speedway, earning high praise from managing director Mike Hull. The Butler University graduate will compete for Rookie of the Year honors alongside Louis Foster and Robert Shwartzman, filling the 26th of 27 available seats on the grid.

"It's super cool; it's what I've been working for my whole entire career," Abel expressed. "I'm ready to take it one step at a time, and I understand it's going to be a process."

Joining Dale Coyne Racing during a rebuilding phase, Abel aims to help the Illinois-based team return to competitive form. His first test in the No. 51 is scheduled for late January at The Thermal Club, where team building is a primary focus.

Abel emphasized his confidence in providing valuable feedback and understanding car setup requirements, noting the similarities between Indy NXT and IndyCar vehicles. The team will announce his teammate for the No. 18 car at a later date.
