The team, which entered Formula E this season after U.S.-based Forest Road Company acquired the former ERT outfit, has attracted several high-profile investors alongside Elba. The expansion follows Cupra's backing as a premium car brand partner at the start of the season.
"Formula E is at the perfect intersection by blending sport and global entertainment with sustainability," said Elba. "I'm proud to be joining the grid with Cupra Kiro at this pivotal moment."
Notable additions to the ownership group include:
- Tony Ressler (Atlanta Hawks principal owner)
- Larry Berg and Shaun Neff (Los Angeles FC co-owners)
- Navid Mahmoodzagedan (Moelis & Company co-founder)
- Steve Bornstein (former ESPN CEO)
- Rick Hess (Evolution Media co-founder)
The team, using customer Porsche powertrains, has already shown promise with Dan Ticktum securing eighth place at the São Paulo E-Prix in their competitive debut.
Jeremy Tarica, managing director of The Forest Road Company, emphasized that this expansion represents the next step in Kiro's journey to become a leading force in motorsport. Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds added that the new investment group's expertise will benefit both the team and the championship as a whole.
The investment underscores growing confidence in Formula E's potential as a sports platform, with the new ownership group bringing diverse expertise in sports, entertainment, and business management to drive the team's future success.
