AWA Corvette Claims Historic First 24-Hour Victory at Daytona
The AWA Corvette Z06 GT3.R claimed its first 24-hour victory at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, marking a significant milestone for Corvette Racing's customer program. This win comes after mechanical issues plagued the car's debut at last year's event.

British driver Matt Bell delivered an exceptional performance in the final stint, defending against multiple challengers, including Heart of Racing's Aston Martin driven by Mattia Drudi. The victory came in a competitive field of 22 GTD-class cars from nine manufacturers.
The win represents a remarkable turnaround for AWA, who had worked continuously since Petit Le Mans to prepare a car capable of winning at Daytona. The team's preparation and confidence in their equipment proved crucial in securing the victory.
"This means absolutely everything," said Bell, who shared driving duties with teammates Orey Fidani, Lars Kern, and Marvin. "From the minute the checkered flag fell at Petit Le Mans, no one took a rest. It's been 24/7 since then to get a car capable of winning the Daytona 24 Hours."
For Orey Fidani, the 2024 IMSA Bob Akin Award winner, this victory provides momentum heading into their debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. "If we can win this one, I think Le Mans also is a possibility," Fidani remarked, highlighting the team's growing ambitions.
The victory not only validates Corvette's GT3 customer racing program but also positions AWA as a serious contender in international GT racing.
