Ferrari and Haas F1 driver Oliver Bearman tested a Super Formula car at Suzuka Circuit, comparing the Japanese series' Dallara SF23 favorably to Formula 1 machinery during a rookie test day.

The 19-year-old British driver completed 43 laps in KCMG's Toyota-powered car, praising both the vehicle and the legendary circuit. The test was made possible through Haas F1's strategic partnership with Toyota Gazoo Racing.

"The Super Formula car feels like Formula 1 without DRS," Bearman explained. "It's much lighter than F2 with the same chassis dimensions. The car is incredibly agile in slow-speed corners, and while it's slower on straights without DRS, the downforce in corners is impressive."

Bearman set a best time of 1m36.940s, 1.4 seconds behind the week's fastest lap. A turbo issue in the afternoon session limited his running, but he achieved his primary goal of learning the track ahead of the 2025 Japanese Grand Prix.

The test drew hundreds of Japanese fans, who impressed Bearman with their enthusiasm and respect. "I've never seen so many people for a test day. They were incredibly kind, giving me gifts and taking time to see me," he said.

The day marked the beginning of what Bearman hopes will be a strong partnership with Toyota, who facilitated this testing opportunity through their alliance with Haas F1.
