U.S. investment firm The Forest Road Company has acquired the Formula E team now known as Cupra Kiro, bringing fresh optimism with Porsche powertrains for the new season. The team, which originally debuted as Team China and won the inaugural Formula E season with Nelson Piquet Jr., aims to transform from a back marker into a regular contender.

Driver Dan Ticktum continues with the team for a third season, though his contract renewal came late. "It's been quite stressful for me, because I've only really known I was going to be driving for the last month or so," Ticktum told RACER. Despite the stress, he remains optimistic about the team's improved package.

The team maintains its core structure while benefiting from Porsche's support, which has already proven successful with recent championships through Jake Dennis (Andretti) and Pascal Wehrlein. Ticktum believes the combination of familiar team operations and Porsche's proven powertrains positions them well for success.

Looking ahead, Ticktum aims for "a couple of podiums" but remains pragmatic about the season's potential. He's already shown promise by securing eighth place in the season opener, marking his first points finish in an opening round and his first top-10 result since last season's Misano E-Prix.

The team's transformation, backed by Forest Road Company and Ares Management co-founders David Kaplan and Bennett Rosenthal, represents a significant step forward in Formula E's competitive landscape, with Porsche's proven technology providing a solid foundation for future success.
