Bill Balog Ready to Race After Volusia Speedway Crash Recovery
Bill Balog bounced back quickly from a frightening crash at Volusia Speedway Park's DIRTcar Nationals. Despite flipping his Sprint Car while running in fourth position and initially fearing severe foot injuries, x-rays revealed only tissue damage and swelling.

Before the incident, Balog showed impressive form at the "World's Fastest Half Mile":
- Qualified second in his flight during the first full points night
- Won his Heat race
- Secured a personal-best sixth-place finish at Volusia
- Achieved another top 10 finish the following evening
- Qualified second fastest in his flight on the final night
- Won his Heat with a last-lap pass
- Finished third in the Dash
The three-week break in the World of Outlaws calendar provided adequate recovery time for the Hartland, WI resident. Balog credits his team's success to lessons learned from the previous year's practice sessions and a well-prepared new Triple X car.
Looking ahead, Balog returns to racing at:
- Volusia Speedway Park for the Bike Week Jamboree (March 2-3)
- Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL (March 7)
- Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS (March 8)
This kicks off 17 consecutive weeks of racing for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car season, with Balog feeling confident about his sophomore year in the series.
