BMW Announces 8-Driver Lineup for 2025 IMSA and WEC Campaigns

BMW M Motorsport will field eight elite drivers across two major championships in 2025 - the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (GTP category) and FIA World Endurance Championship (Hypercar class). The drivers will pilot BMW M Hybrid V8s with BMW M Team RLL in IMSA and BMW M Team WRT in WEC.

Driver Lineup:

  • Kevin Magnussen (F1 driver, new addition)
  • Philipp Eng (returning IMSA driver)
  • Robin Frijns
  • René Rast
  • Marco Wittmann
  • Raffaele Marciello
  • Sheldon van der Linde
  • Dries Vanthoor

IMSA Team Configuration:

  • No. 24 BMW M Hybrid V8:

    • Core: Eng and Vanthoor
    • Endurance races: Magnussen (Daytona, Sebring, Petit Le Mans)
    • Daytona 24: Marciello joins
  • No. 25 BMW M Hybrid V8:

    • Core: Wittmann and van der Linde
    • Endurance races: Frijns
    • Daytona 24: Rast joins

WEC Team Configuration:

  • No. 15: Magnussen, Marciello, Vanthoor
  • No. 20: Frijns, Rast, van der Linde

Schedule Conflicts:

  • Laguna Seca (IMSA) / Spa-Francorchamps (WEC): WEC teams will run with two drivers per car
  • Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (IMSA) / Brazil (WEC): No conflict for GTP class

Andreas Roos, head of BMW M Motorsport, emphasizes this specialized approach will enhance driver familiarity with the BMW M Hybrid V8 and improve development through focused feedback and information exchange between championships.
