Chase Briscoe is maximizing his two-day Goodyear tire test at Charlotte Motor Speedway to adapt to his new Joe Gibbs Racing No. 19 Toyota. The test provides crucial track time as Briscoe transitions from Stewart-Haas Racing's Ford program.

"The JGR cars drive way different than what I'm used to," Briscoe explained. "I've had to change my driving style significantly over the last few weeks to better suit their car setups."

The timing is particularly beneficial, coming right after the Las Vegas intermediate track race and before Homestead-Miami Speedway. Despite a 17th place finish in Las Vegas due to a wheel penalty, Briscoe remains focused on adapting to Toyota's successful intermediate track program.

Key changes in Briscoe's driving approach include:

  • Maintaining higher minimum corner speeds
  • Adjusting throttle application
  • Modifying corner entry techniques
  • Adapting to the car's enhanced handling capabilities

"I didn't necessarily anticipate how much different I would have to do stuff," Briscoe admitted. "JGR has won way more races than I have, so I'm trying to do what I can to put ourselves in the best position."

The team faces a temporary setback with two-race suspensions for their primary jackman and rear tire changer following the Las Vegas wheel incident. However, Toyota's strong record at Homestead-Miami, with three wins in the last five races, provides optimism for the upcoming race.
