Chase Briscoe's move to Joe Gibbs Racing has brought significant lifestyle changes, particularly in his approach to fitness and nutrition. The transformation began during his first lunch meeting with new crew chief James Small, who immediately addressed Briscoe's eating habits.

Small, along with his wife Kat Sims, are dedicated fitness enthusiasts. When Briscoe admitted to never eating fruits or vegetables, avoiding workouts, and preferring fried foods, Small saw an opportunity for improvement. His message was clear: total commitment to performance, both on and off the track.

"I want you to be 100% in the race car at all times, and if I'm putting 100% on my end, I want to know that you're 100% bought in, too," Small told Briscoe.

To ensure accountability, Sims became Briscoe's personal trainer and nutritionist. This arrangement has proven effective, as Briscoe lost nearly 10 pounds in the first few weeks, though he admits maintaining consistency remains a challenge.

The partnership is already showing promising results. Together, Briscoe and Small secured their first Daytona 500 pole position, marking Toyota's first pole in the event and Joe Gibbs Racing's first since 1998. For Briscoe, this opportunity with Gibbs represents his first genuine shot at a Cup Series championship.
