Growing up an hour north in Thomson, GA, Overton has accumulated more laps at Swainsboro than any other track. He began his racing career there in 2018 with a Crate Late Model, and despite a rough start, quickly proved his racing prowess by collecting wins at multiple tracks across the region.
Swainsboro holds special significance for the Overton family, particularly during the annual Turkey 100 race. Both Cody and his brother Brandon have secured victories in this prestigious event, making it a cherished family tradition.
In preparation for the upcoming Battle at the Crossroads, Overton's Dave Steine Motorsports team recently participated in the track's Spring Nationals Series event. Despite facing setbacks due to equipment issues, Overton remains confident in his ability to leverage his extensive track knowledge for a potential first World of Outlaws victory.
"It's its own little animal, flat in a circle," Overton says of the unique 3/8-mile facility. "I think we'll be a lot better. We got ourselves buried, but we know what we did wrong."
The Battle at the Crossroads takes place on Friday and Saturday, March 21-22, at Swainsboro Raceway, where Overton will face off against the nation's top Late Model drivers on his home turf.
