Dean Kessel Named Chief Marketing Officer at Legacy Motor Club

Legacy Motor Club has appointed Dean Kessel as Chief Marketing Officer, bringing over 25 years of senior executive leadership experience in sports marketing, sponsorship strategy, and brand development.

"We are thrilled to welcome Dean to Legacy Motor Club," said co-owner Jimmie Johnson, highlighting Kessel's extensive experience through previous partnerships with Lowe's, Sprint, and American Legion.

Most recently, Kessel served as CMO for The American Legion, where he:

  • Redefined the Legion's brand
  • Led the IndyCar sponsorship with Chip Ganassi Racing
  • Launched a Netflix partnership with Jerry Seinfeld
  • Developed the "Be The One" initiative to combat veteran suicide

His notable career achievements include:

  • Directing Sprint's $100 million NASCAR Sprint Cup Series sponsorship
  • Serving as vice president at ESPN with BASS property
  • Leading sports marketing at Lowe's Companies Inc.
  • Securing naming rights for Lowe's Motor Speedway
  • Negotiating the sponsorship between Lowe's and Jimmie Johnson in 2001

"I am beyond excited to join the leadership team at Legacy Motor Club with Jimmie and Cal (Wells, CEO)," said Kessel, emphasizing the significance of joining during Johnson's assumption of majority ownership and Knighthead Capital's involvement.

In his new role, Kessel will oversee all marketing initiatives, sponsorship activations, and brand strategy for Legacy Motor Club.
