After a winless 2024 season with Andretti Global, Marcus Ericsson is intensifying his preparation for 2025, determined to return to his winning ways in the NTT IndyCar Series.

Following successful years at Chip Ganassi Racing, where he secured four wins including the 2022 Indianapolis 500 and three consecutive sixth-place championship finishes, Ericsson's transition to Andretti Global proved challenging. Despite earning a podium at Detroit and three top-five finishes, he ended 2024 in 15th place.

The Swedish driver has responded by focusing on physical conditioning, adding 10 pounds of muscle to better handle the increasingly demanding IndyCar hybrid vehicles. "I don't really believe in bad luck. I believe in preparing yourself to succeed," Ericsson told RACER, emphasizing his comprehensive approach to improvement, including mental training.

Using 2024's disappointments as motivation, Ericsson is working with a mental trainer and maintaining strict discipline in his preparation. "Sometimes you need to get beaten down a little bit to reach new heights," he reflected, expressing determination to prove himself in the second year of his Andretti contract.

For Ericsson, the path back to victory lane involves a holistic approach to improvement. "When you feel like you're physically strong, it helps you to be more mentally strong as well," he noted, maintaining focus on returning to his winning form for the upcoming season.
